My approach to therapy:

I believe that the most important element of change in therapy is a strong, trusting, and comfortable relationship with a therapist. I like to meet clients where they are at and help them develop the skills, insight, and confidence they need to face life’s toughest challenges or difficult periods of transition. I view myself as a passenger on your treatment journey and would like to help you realize your own potential for growth, healing, and peace.

In sessions, I might use a variety of different evidence-based therapeutic approaches depending on your individual treatment goals and needs. I like to incorporate elements from well-known and researched therapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and activity therapy, to name a few.

During sessions, I like to incorporate games, play, laughter, art, music, and body movement. I find this helpful for increasing engagement with difficult children and teens, and increasing stimulation for those who find traditional talk therapy boring or challenging. I also believe that learning and healing from trauma can happen in a variety of different ways, such as becoming more attuned with your body or learning to express feelings that are hard to say through art or play.

Who I Can See:

    Children/Teens

I can work with children and teens ranging from 7-17 years of age. I have experience building strong therapeutic relationships with children and teens who are generally more resistant to outpatient therapy.

    Adults

I enjoy helping adults of all ages work through various stressors, past hurts, trauma, and insecurities.

    Families

I am experienced with helping families heal through stressful transition periods, improve communication, and foster connection and positive regard with one another.
